About Us

About Us

Habitat For Humanity of Clallam County is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are then sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Our Philosophy

Habitat offers people who cannot afford homes a hand up rather than a handout. Community volunteers help neighbors in need build a house. Habitat homeowners pay back the cost of their housing materials through a no-interest mortgage that typically lasts 20 to 30 years. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Donations from the public and earnings from our second-hand furniture and more store cover the cost of land, roads, utilities and other overhead. Neither religion nor race is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.

Our Mission

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing ministry.

Habitat welcomes all people - regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference - to build simple, decent, affordable houses with those who lack adequate shelter.

We work locally in our communities to select and support homeowners, organize volunteers and coordinate house building.

Homeowners are selected based on their need for housing, their ability to repay a mortgage and their willingness to work in partnership with Habitat.

Habitat does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity or any other difference.
