Program Eligibility Criteria

Your household income and size must meet the annual income guidelines. To be eligible for a Habitat home, your total household income must be below 80% of the area median income. Household income guidelines are set by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and updated each year.

Each applicant and co-applicant must live in Clallam County for at least twelve (12) consecutive calendar months at the date of the pre-application.

This is our term for your participation in the program. Purchasing a home through Habitat Clallam requires a commitment of time and energy. Once qualified as a partner family each applicant will need to complete 250 hours of “Sweat Equity” per adult in the household, including completing the required homebuyer education, financial management, and home maintenance classes.

Habitat Clallam considers your household’s financial health and ability to get a home mortgage for up to 33% of your annual gross income. A future homeowner must have a steady source of income and they must demonstrate financial responsibility. Sources of income include but are not limited to: social security, unemployment benefits, alimony, child support, food stamps, or disability.

Applying to the Homeownership Program

Not always – the application process is only available based on the timeline for the next available build cycle. We will alert the community on our website and social media 30 days before the next open application cycle.
