Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County has officially completed our 2026 Blitz Build, and our hearts are full. In just one week, the walls went up, the roof was set, and a brand new single family home at 1127 W Hazel Street in Port Angeles now stands as a testament to what our community can accomplish when we come together with purpose and generosity. This project marks a joyful milestone in our 35 years of building strength, stability, and self reliance through shelter, and we are deeply grateful for every partner who made this incredible achievement possible.
This home sits on a property that once held a high‑risk dwelling with documented drug activity in Port Angeles. When Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County purchased the land, our team cleared the site, removed the unsafe structure, and transformed the space into something filled with hope. Today, through our 2026 Blitz Build, that same property is becoming a safe, stable single family home for a local family. It is a powerful example of how our community can reclaim challenging spaces and turn them into places where strength and opportunity can grow.
This year’s Blitz Build was made possible not only by the hands that showed up on site, but also by the materials that formed the bones of the home. Interfor generously donated all the framing lumber for this build, continuing a remarkable legacy of support totaling 13 Habitat homes built with Interfor donated lumber. Their commitment to affordable housing has strengthened our community again and again, and we are profoundly grateful for their partnership.
The Blitz Build brought together an outstanding team of contractors who donated their time, skill, and crews to make a one week home build not only possible, but successful. Titan Builders launched the week with exterior framing, giving shape to the home and setting the pace for the days ahead. AW Services LLC followed with interior framing, transforming the structure into a space where a family will soon create memories. Romero Contracting carried the project through the final stretch, rolling trusses, sheeting the roof, and completing essential wrap up work that brought the home to life. Their dedication, coordination, and craftsmanship turned a bold idea into a finished reality.
Before the build began, representatives from each contractor joined Habitat staff and our construction committee for a pre conference meeting to plan the week and ensure that every detail was aligned. That preparation paid off. Each day ran smoothly, safely, and with a shared sense of pride in the work being done.
Our volunteer crews also stayed energized thanks to generous lunch sponsors who stepped forward to support the build. Subway, Pizza Hut, Lincoln Park Grocery, Safeway, and Sunny Farms provided meals throughout the week, keeping volunteers fueled and ready to give their best. Their kindness added warmth and comfort to long days on site, and we are truly thankful for their partnership.
By the end of the week, the transformation was remarkable. Romero Contracting even helped out Saturday (Day 5) to finish up the sheeting on the roof! What began as an empty site now holds a fully framed home that is one major step closer to welcoming a local family. The speed of the build reflects not only efficiency, but the heart of our community. Every contractor, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter played a part in lifting this home from the ground.
Blitz Build 2026 is more than a completed project. It is a celebration of unity, generosity, and the belief that everyone deserves a safe and stable place to live. We are proud, grateful, and excited for the next steps as this home moves toward completion and a family moves toward a brighter future.
